HOW TO GET ADOBE READER 8 UPDATE
I relaunched MS Edge and lo and behold I get the same message I have to update Adobe Reader, so I do it again check the update version is indeed the latest and reboot my laptop. Adobe Reader 8 should now install successfully. I followed the link and updated Adobe Reader just like I have done hundreds of times before. Now once again right-click the AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe file and choose Run As Administrator. Make sure the drop-down box below that reads Windows XP (Service Pack 2), changing it if need be. Now under the heading COMPATIBILITY MODE, put a check in the box for run this program in compatibility mode for. In the new window that appears, click on the COMPATIBILITY tab. What you need to do is locate the AdbeRdr80_en_US.exe file you downloaded and right-click on it and choose PROPERTIES. I followed the advice from another poster that I found here: Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.". A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. I keep getting the error "invalid plugin detected, adobe reader will quit" Then I close that box and a windows explorer box opens up that says "Adobe reader 8.1 has stopped working.
Everything seemed fine until my next attempt at opening any and all PDF's.
